Thomas Jefferson Dinner sets new record

Over 230 attendees braved freezing rain to attend the third annual Thomas Jefferson Dinner at Sun City's Prairie Lodge on Saturday, April 12. Featured speakers included Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, and U.S. Congresswoman Melissa Bean.

Labor union support stronger than ever

The support of local building trade unions and teachers union members was especially noteworthy; over half of the tables were filled with union members and their guests. The Democratic Party of McHenry County has recently made a special effort to form a closer partnership with organized labor, and we expect this effort to continue as we work together to further the interests of working families in McHenry County.

Honorees at this year's event were Democratic Party Secretary and long-time community activist Patrick Murfin, and AFL-CIO of Illinois President Emeritus Margaret Blackshere.
