Vice Chair Sam Melei

sample

Sam was elected Vice Chairl of the McHenry County Democratic Central Committee at the March 2008 Constitutional Convention.

Originally from Beverly, Massachusetts, Sam attended Boston College, where he received his B.A. in History in 1996, and then moved to Illinois to attend law school at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, graduating in 1999. The Illinois Bar Exam was next, which he passed, receiving his license to practice law in November 1999. Soon after, Sam took his first job as an attorney with the Crystal Lake law firm of Coonen & Roth, Ltd., and has continued his practice there for the last six years, although now the firm is called Roth Melei Santeler, Ltd.

While at DePaul, Sam met his future wife, Debra, and after each found jobs in the suburbs following their graduation, they moved to St. Charles. In October 2005, Sam and Debra moved just over the McHenry-Kane county border to Huntley. Sam quickly became involved with the McHenry Dems, and was elected Precinct Representative for Grafton 22 in March.

Sam’s wife, Debra, is an Assistant State’s Attorney with the Kane County State’s Attorney’s office. They have a two-year old daughter, Ella.
